Ganapathi case: Madikeri court to hear petition on Mar 6

The JMFC court in Madikeri has posted the hearing on petition filed by the family members of Deputy Superintendent of Police late M K Ganapathi to consider them as co-complainants to March 6.

M K Kushalappa, father of Ganapathi, mother Jaji Poovamma, brother M K Machaiah and sister Sabitha had filed application to the court on October 24, to consider them as co-complainants.

Ganapathi had committed suicide at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7. Prior to committing suicide, in an interview to a private television channel, he had named minister K J George, senior IPS officers A M Prasad, DIG Pranab Mohanty of harassing him.

The CID, which probed into the suicide case, had given clean chit to all three. Ganapathi’s wife K K Pavana and son Nehal expressed satisfaction over the probe, while the family members objected to it and filed an application in the court.

Ganapathi’s family had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to hand over the case to CBI. The Supreme Court has directed the Karnataka government to explain why the case should not be handed over to the CBI within two weeks.
