Prajapita Brahmakumari Eshwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya celebrated International Yoga Day on Tuesday at its premises at Yadavagiri in city.
Chamaraja Constituency MLA Vasu, who inaugurated the event, said that International Yoga Day was being celebrated not only in India, but also in other parts of the world. He further said that yoga was being practiced in India right from the ancient times. By practicing yoga, one can improve his/her physical as well as mental health and avoid going to hospitals.
Maharshi Pandeji, founder-president, Patanjali Yoga Centre, Mysuru, who was the chief guest, said that right from ancient times, yoga has been playing a key role in our lives. He said that sages and other religious leaders have contributed a lot for the development of yoga in our country. “We should keep our atmosphere clean, then only we can build the Swacch Bharat.”
B K Lakshmiji, chief co-ordinator of the institution, said that several institutions and organisations in India were teaching yoga. She further said that due to food habits and lifestyle, people were getting one or the other disease and by practicing yoga, one can overcome numerous health-problems. B K Manjula demonstrated various facets of yoga. B K Ramachandra and B K Ranganath were present.
