The Congress ministers who often boast of being guardians of minorities have been involved in Rs 54 crore Karnataka Wakf Board scam, alleged K S Eshwarappa, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, here on Thursday.
Addressing a press meet at a private hotel in the city, he alleged that several Congress ministers and leaders were involved in the Karnataka Wakf Board scam. Hence, the state government is hesitant to table the contentious special report of Anwar Manappady, the then chairman of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission on wakf properties in blatant violation of the law, he added.
State Planning Commission vice chairman C M Ibrahim, Lok Sabha member Mallikarjuna Kharge, late Azeez Sait and others have been involved in the wakf board scam, alleged Eshwarappa and further added that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had cheated Backward Classes and Dalits. “CM’s work towards the development of BCs and Dalits is absolutely zero.”
BJP leader Eshwarappa alleged that Siddaramaiah is among the ministers involved in illegal sand mining scam in the state. The chief minister has falsely been claiming that he is the champion of underprivileged classes.
He urged the chief minister to come clear on the funds allocated for development of BCs in the budget, on increasing the percentage for reservation and the financial situation of the state treasury.
Replying to a question, Eshwarappa said that there is no connection between BJP and ‘Rayanna brigade.’ The Rayanna brigade is primarily focused on development of students, he added.
BJP city president Dr Manjunath, leaders Mahesh Prabhakar and others were present.
