Mysuru City Crime branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested a bookie who was into cricket betting.
The arrested is identified as N Ramesh, a resident of Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya district. CCB sleuths arrested him while he was waiting for his friends to distribute the betting amount near Outer Ring Road (ORR) in the city.
According to police, Ramesh was involved in betting during the India Vs England Twenty 20 match played on January 26 and Rs 38,000 and two cell phones which were used for the betting have also been recovered from the NR Police officers.
In a similar case, CCB arrested five bookies Srikantaveer, Vijaykumar, Abdul Razak, Kailash and Guruswamy. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Industrial suburb and arrested five persons on charges of cricket betting.
