Demonetisation: Cong leaders, workers take out huge protest rally in city

The Congress committee office-bearers, elected representatives of local bodies, party workers and leaders took out a huge rally against the hardships caused by the alleged unplanned implementation of note ban by the Central government, in the city on Monday.

The protesters raised slogans against the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging  that demonetisation of high denomination notes has put the people, farmers and daily wagers to grave hardships.

Congress leader and former MP A H Vishwanath said “Narendra Modi does not believe in Indian economy, by scrapping the high denomination notes, thus leaving the people staggered. Financial experts claim that demonetisation is another way of looting.”

The Congress leaders and workers also urged President Pranab Mukherjee to intervene in the interest of common man, and bail out the people from the current confusions of post-demonetisation.

The party workers and leaders took out a procession from the Railway station, which passed through JLB Road, Dasappa Circle, Dhanvantri Road, Narayana Shastri Road, Devaraj Urs Road, Metropole Circle, Hunsur Road, and culminated at the deputy commissioner’s office.
