Eco friendly pencils in the anvil

With an aim to save trees JIIV, a city based organisation launched an innovative set of writing instruments, here in the city on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner C Shikha launched the new JIIV’s eco-friendly writing instruments made up of recycled newspapers, papers and books. Addressing the gathering she said, “It is high-time for us to save our environment and have an innovative approach to protect our nature. I congratulate the JIIV team which has made a noteworthy achievement on developing this idea.They have redefined writing instruments like pencil that chops thousands of trees every year. This kind of invention must be promoted and encouraged. At the same time a wide range of awareness must spread among young kids.”

“For the first time we in the district administration have joined hands with private organisation as a part of our project ‘Go Green’ where we are planting one lakh saplings across the city and nearly sixty percent of the project has completed till date.”

Speaking on the occasion founder of JIIV, Vishal Choudhary said, “My team and I always wanted to try something innovative that connects people with environment. When we had a brainstorming session we decided to redefine writing instruments using recycled newspapers that can save billions of trees. Every year nearly 1.5 pencils are used in the world killing 82,000 trees. So we developed this eco and customer friendly product and are striving hard to promote it in large scale.”

Principal of Mahajana’s First Grade College, Prof K V Prabhakar, Chairman of NR Groups R Guru, co-founder of JIIV, Manoj and others were present.
