One hundred and fifty two graduates of the 2011 batch were awarded graduation certificates at a function held on Sunday at the Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Hall at the JK Grounds in the city.
The event was jointly held under the auspices of MMC&RI and Mysore Medical College Alumni Association (MMCAA).
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) director Dr C N Manjunath gave away the graduation certificates to the medical students.
The student toppers – Dr S Abhishek, Dr Madhu Kikkeri, Dr Soumya S Aithal, Dr Girija, Dr Arpitha, Dr H R Bharath, Dr Y R Arshitha, Dr Shruthi Parimo and Dr Bhavika Vijavat who had scored the highest marks were awarded gold medals.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manjunath said the profession as a medical doctor is a noble one; the doctors should have the maximum patience and be service-oriented while serving the patients. Doctors should not become commercial minded instead, should serve the patients by knowing their ailments appropriately, he added.
MMC&RI dean Dr B Krishnamurthy, MMCAA Dr H T Chidanand were among those present at the event.
