Students of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru presented their project demonstration to the delegates recently at the Robotics Laboratory. Violations of Traffic Rules and carelessness of drivers are the major factors for occurrence of traffic accidents and cause harm to human being as well as the environment. This motivated students to design a system which ensures the safety of the biker, by preventing drunken driving and by providing prompt and quick medical attention, in case of accidents. The aim of this project was to minimize the risk of traffic accidents.
The system checks if the rider wore a helmet and it also checks if the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle starts only if the safety measures are met. In case of accidents, the smart system sends the location details of the accident site to a predefined mobile number. The second project – “Vehicle recognition system with automatic gate control using RFID” is to provide security in an organisation by allowing only the authorized vehicle to access the secured area. The vehicles of the authorized users are provided with a RFID tag which makes their vehicle authenticated.
