Kannada book on Nobel litterateurs released

The state government and the University of Mysore should soon start an institute in the name of Prof C D Narasimhaiah (Prof CDN Chair) at the Department of English in Manasagangothri, urged retired English professor Prof D A Shankar.

He was addressing the gathering at the release of book titled ‘Nobel Sahitigalu’ written by Prof H S Umesh.

Prof Shankar said: “The contemporary world can be called an information hub as we can gather information like never before. Though we have got an easy access to information, it has become a great disadvantage for teachers and writers. But Umesh has not accessed readily available information to write the book. He has used his own intuition along with information and has made it relevant to the situation. While writing about Tagore he has made a relevance to the B V Karanth’s theatre expedition.”

“Prof C D Narasimhaiah has been the first generation litterateur and was a guru to UR Ananthamurthy, Rajeev Taranath and many others. It is high time for the government to start a Prof CDN Chair,” he added.

Later speaking about the book retired Kannada professor and scholar Dr N S Taranath said: “Though a series of books are available in Kannada language on various awardees, this is the first time a book on global awardees have been brought out in Kannada. This 500 and odd page book comprises the details of all 112 Nobel litterateurs.”

Writer Prof H S Umesh, President of Sarada Vilas education institute B S Parthasarathy and others were present.
