The judicial custody of close aide of chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and former Zilla Panchayat president, K Marigowda, stands extended till September 1.
Judicial custody of Marigowda was to end on Friday. Therefore, the police had produced him in the court. Judge of the third JMF court here, Deepa, who heard the case, extended judicial custody of Marigowda.
A total of five persons including Marigowda and Manjunath have been charged with deterring former deputy commissioner of Mysuru, C Shikha from discharging her duties on July 3. A month later, he surrendered before Nazarbad Police. Marigowda was produced before III JMFC Court which sent him to judicial custody along with his friend Manjunath.
He and his associates are accused of stopping the DC’s car in public and using foul language against her. Cops registered a case under IPC section 143 (punishment of unlawful assembly), 147 (punishment for rioting), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
Meanwhile, the bail application moved by Marigowda has been postponed for Saturday.
