Rajamouli requests Kannadigas to allow release of Bahubali 2

The nine-year-old derogatory remarks by Tamil actor Sathyaraj against Karnataka and Kannada leaders had recently sparked outrage in Karnataka.

With SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘Bahubali 2’ set to release all over the country, the Kannada organisations are readying themselves to ban the movie in Karnataka. Sathyaraj plays the famous ‘Kattappa’ character in the movie.

The Kannada organisations have demanded an apology from Sathyaraj who has refused to comment on the issue.

Today, S S Rajamouli, the acclaimed director of films such as Magadheera, Eega, Bahubali 1 and 2 took to his twitter account to apologise to all Kannadigas.

In a video shared by him, Rajamouli, speaking in Kannada, has requested for the release of  Bahubali 2 in Karnataka.

“Sathyaraj is neither the director nor the producer of Bahubali 2. He is just an actor like many others. Banning the whole movie for the sake of one person is not right,” he said.

“The comment was made 9 years ago. Since then many of Sathyaraj’s movies have been released in Karnataka. Targeting only Bahubali 2 seems wrong,” he added.
