RTI activist’s murder: Two accused nabbed

Saraswathipursm Police have successfully solved the murder case of the RTI activist Shrikanth. The body of the deceased was found floating in the Cauvery river near Nimishamba temple, Srirangapattana on December 30.  The police have arrested two persons on the basis of evidences collected.

Accused Puuttawamy and Lakshmegowda, residents of Rajarajeshwarinagar, have been arrested. It is alleged that RTI activist Shrikanth had taken a loan of Rs 25- 30 lakh from BEML Housing Board Society president Lokesh. When Lokesh asked Shrikanth to return the borrowed money, Shrikanth has allegedly resorted to blackmail tactics following which Lokesh had gone into depression. Puttaswamy and Lakshmegowda, both friends of Lokesh are said to have planned the murder of Shrikanth. Accordingly, both the culprits took Shrikanth to a construction site in Rajarajeshwarinagar and beat him up with the construction tools which led to his death. Later, both of them took transported the body in an omni car and dumped it near Nimishamba temple.

Saraswathipuram Police arrested the accused near the outer ring road on Wednesday.

Saraswathipuram Police Inspector Poovaiah, staff Manju, Prakash, Dilip and others were part of the crackdown team. The arrested are under the cusotody of Srirangapattana Police.
