For the first time in Mysuru, Karnataka Shilpa Kala Academy will be conducting the 20th sculpture expo ‘Shilpakala Sambrama-20’ between March 4 and 6 at Kalamandir. About 30 sculptors from across the state will be exhibiting their works at the state-level sculpture expo.
Live stone carving will be demonstrated by Shilpi Ashok Gudigar, and terracotta art will be demonstrated by N Revan.
Books related to sculpture titled ‘Badami Chalukya Devalayada Tala Vinyasagalu’ by Viroopaksha B Badiger, ‘Shilpi A Kirana Subbaiah’ by N B Kaverappa will be launched during the three-day expo.
Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Karnataka Shilpakala Academy Chairman Mahadevappa Shambulingappa Shilpi said that the expo will be a great opportunity to exchange different ideas over multi subjects such as spirituality, folklore, dance, literature and its influence on sculpture.
There will also be a seminar on relation between painting and sculpture, dance and culture, folklore and Culture, sculpture in cinema and drama and literature. Besides, contribution of sculpture in terms of revealing the history will be discussed. As part of the event 30 sculptures will be felicitated, he added.
