The Mysuru city police have succeeded in nabbing the murderers of Basavaraju (32), an engineer who was found stabbed to death near Kusuma Chandrashekhar convention hall near KRS Road, recently. Basavaraju was working as a mechanical engineer at Innovative Fenestration, Hebbal Industrial Aarea. A case was registered at the Metagalli police station a couple of days back.
The Metagalli police have identified the dead as Basavaraju Alagundi and nabbed the murderers. The accused Manjunatha aka Motu Beedi (19), Mogaralli Manti, Srirangapattana, Nandisha (23), Lokanayakanagar, Mysuru and Vinay Kumar aka Vinod (19), Bhyraveshwaranagar, Mysuru.
On the fateful days, the accused surrounded Basavaraju to steal his mobile phone. When he resisted, the accused attacked with weapons which resulted in his death. No sooner they realised Basavaraju was dead, the frightened murderers threw the phone into the Hebbal Lake.
During the enquiry, the three confessed to stealing two-wheelers in the limits of Kuvempunagar and Jayalakshmipuram police stations. The police have recovered a dragon knife, Sony mobile and a SIM card of the deceased. Three stolen two-wheelers (Hero Honda Passion, Hero Honda Splendor, and a Bajaj Pulsar) worth Rs 1 lakh have been seized.
Skilled swimmers have recovered the cell phone of Basavaraju, which was thrown into the Hebbal Lake. Among the accused, Manjunath and Nandish are identified as brothers and complaints of stealing car tires have been registered against them in Ashokapuram, Saraswathipuram, Vijayanagar and Metagalli police stations.
The investigation was led by DCP Dr H T Shekhar and ACP Umesh Shet. Metagalli police inspector H T Sunil Kumar, PSI Kumar, constables Mallikarjunappa, Shivananjappa, Purushottam, Lingarajappa, Suresh, Elias, Shivakumar, Vasantha, Asha, Krishnamurthy carried out the investigation. Inspector of the technical team Hashmath Khan, constables B N Gurudeva Aradhya, C M Manju supported the investigation.
