Mysuru, June 28:- If everything goes according to plan, University of Mysore (UoM) will play host to all India inter university men’s kho-kho tournament and south zone inter university women’s kho kho in the next couple of months.
Around 16 qualified teams will take part in the all India tournament, while 70 university teams will take part in the SZ event. Women’s tournament is likely to be held in the month of October, while men’s event will be held in January next year.
Last year, UoM women’s team won third place in the all India inter university competition, while men’s team lost in the quarterfinals.
B D Kantharaja, Physical Instructor, UoM, said, “This will be a good chance for us to churn out a better performance. It is a good platform for promising players to showcase their talent.” Four courts will be prepared for the matches, while one will be readied for practice.
T Praveen Kumar, who led UoM kho-kho team last year, said, “It is a good chance for us to showcase our talent in front of our home crowd. We have a good team. Whether it is in Mysuru or any other place we are very sure UoM will definitely come up with a good performance. Hope the government will provide us job opportunities.” (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
