World Badminton Championships: PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth to lead India

Prime News, International, National, Sports, New Delhi, August 11:-  Squad for the upcoming Badminton World Federation (BWF) Badminton World Championships has been announced. The tournament will take place in Glasgow, Scotland from August 21 onwards. The Indian squad has 21 players comprising both women and men.

Fifth ranked P V Sindhu and eighth ranked Kidambi Srikanth are the two top seeded players going into the tournament and will lead in men and women category respectively. In the recently announced BWF rankings, a total of seven Indian men shuttlers were in the top 50 of BWF men singles category.

With Sindhu and Srikanth coming into the tournament among the top-ranked players in their respective categories, they will get byes in the first round and will gain direct entries into the pre-quarterfinals.

In the seven-day long tournament, Indian squad will be participating in matches in men, women singles doubles and mixed doubles.

Among coaches, the team includes Pullela Gopichand, Vimal Kumar, Tan Kim Her, Jwala Gutta, Handoyo Mulyo, Hariawan and Pradnya Gadre.
