Culprits steal sandalwood trees at RC’s office

About six sandalwood trees were chopped and stolen by unidentified persons from the premises of the Regional Commissioner’s office. Surprisingly, the residence of the Deputy Commissioner is located adjacent to it.

According to Devaraja Police, though the criminals chopped the trees for the past four days, the incident came to light only on Monday. The police alleged that the culprits managed to chop six sandalwood trees ageing around 4-5 years old and managed to take them successfully from behind the bungalow where the height of the compound wall is less.

After this incident, the authorities have decided to increase the height of the compound and also to install more lights in the 20-acre premise. Apart from this, the police have also decided to enhance security and also more beats especially during the night time. Devaraja police have registered a complaint and are on the lookout for the alleged smugglers.
