Youth should develop leadership qualities: Prof

 “Developing leadership among youth in college will not only strengthen the process of democracy it will also help them to resolve problems of any kind in the future,” said Dr B K Ravi, Chairman Department of Mass Communication, Bangalore University.
He addressed the students of SBBRR Mahajana College Mysuru on the occasion of the valedictory of Student Parliament and Talents Forum, Pratibha Puraskar and farewell to final year students.
Praising the concept of students parliament which has seen a successful decade in empowering the college students with leadership qualities. It is worthy to inculcate leadership qualities among youth, he said.
Further, the professor urged the youth to respond to social issues and warned students to not forget their duties and responsibilities.
He advised the students to strengthen qualities such as hard work, dedication and humility which would lead them on the path of success and help them carve a better future for themselves.  
He cited the example of the collapse of the US economy and attributed it to the lack of trained youth who were a neglected lot by their parents. The annual report of the activities of the college was presented by students Parul Mittal, Prathibha and Prashanth of BCom.
Bhargava K, a final year BBM student who was chosen as the parliamentarian of the year was felicitated. He presided over the function.
Later, Pratibha Puraskar and various endowment prizes were distributed to meritorious students, who were the top scorers in the university exams of 2014-15.
Dr Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Hon Secreatry, MES, and Prof Mary Eapen, wished good luck to the final year students who shared their experiences about the college.
Newsletters Nama Samsath, Muses, Infolet and Achievers were released on the occasion.
Prof K V Prabhakara made the initial remarks explaining the concept of student parliament, Radesh convenor of Talents Forum welcomed and Indrani convenor of Students Parliament proposed the vote of thanks.
The awards distribution ceremony was followed by cultural programmes.
