1.2 lakh cusecs of water released from KRS Dam for 3rd consecutive day

Mandya/Mysuru, August 18:- With the inflow of water at Krishnaraja Sagara (KRS) Dam rising up to 1, 33,279 cusecs on Saturday morning, a huge quantum of water was released from the reservoir.

According to the officials of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL), the inflow of water to KRS Dam was 1,34,000 cusecs on Saturday early morning following which nearly 1,20,000 cusecs of water  was released from the dam for the third consecutive day.

The security around KRS Reservoir has been beefed up and the Mandya District Administration has banned the entry of visitors at the dam as the outflow is high.

Meanwhile, the Srirangapattana taluk administration as preventive measures has built a temporary wall near the Wellesely Bridge as water from river Cauvery is flowing above the danger mark. The traffic movement on Wellesely Bridge has been banned following overflow of water on the bridge.  Now a temporary wall has been constructed in a bid to stop the visitors and people from crossing over the bridge.

On Saturday, the inflow of water to Kabini Dam was 80,032 cusecs while the outflow is 79,000 cusecs. -(HN, KK)
