Treat yourself to a wide range of Gujarati handicrafts at the 10-day long Gujarat Handicraft Utsav to be held in the city from July 1 to July 10.
The festival, a first-of-its-kind in Karnataka, is being organised by Industrial Extension Cottage (Indext-C) – a Government of Gujarat Industrial Extension Organisation at JSS Urban Haat, Hebbal Industrial Area.
The utsav will have on display exquisite works from more than 40 master artisans of Gujarat. People can purchase exclusive rich art and crafts like Gujarat’s pride-patola sari, bandhani (tie and dye), embroidery, clay articles, patch work, bead work, terracotta, warli painting and eco-friendly jewellery items etc.
There is good news for foodies too. The exhibition will have food stalls selling sumptuous Gujarati food such as thepla, Dhokla, fafda to name a few.
The utsav will be open between10 am and 9 pm every day and will be inaugurated by Minister for Primary Education and Wakf and Haj Tanveer Sait. Mayor B L Bhyrappa, Mayor, Mysore City Corporation will preside over the function.
MLA Vasu, MLC Veena Achaiah, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Science & Technology University and Director (P & D) I/c, JSS Technical Education Division, Mysuru Dr B G Sangameshwara, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division B R Umakant, Senior Officer, Indext-C, Gujarat R R Jadhav, Marketing Manager, Indext-C, Gujarat Makwana and Assistant Director, Handicrafts Marketing and Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India Sashidhar would be present.
