Commemorating the dedication of pourakarmikas who are the key people behind Mysuru being recognised as cleanest city in the country, city based NGO H V Rajiv Sneha Balaga felicitated 100 pourakarmikas to mark its 100th Week cleanliness campaigns held here on Sunday.
The cleanliness initiatives of H V Rajiv Sneha Balaga, joining hands with various education institutions and students, started two years ago conducted cleanliness drives at public places every Sunday has completed 100th Week on July 24.
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa flagged off cleanliness walkathon from Sharada Vilas College in Krishnamurthypuram and the rally moved around the nearby areas where hundreds of youths enthusiastically participated.
MP Pratap Simha who participated in the rally, lauded Pourakarmikas, MCC and Rajiv Sneha Balaga volunteers for successfully bringing to reality the pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that was initiated on October 2, 2014. V LEAD Founder Balasubramanyam said that if everyone was genuinely involved in cleanliness instead of publicity tactics, the whole nation would shine with hygiene.
MCC Commissioner Dr C G Betsurmath, Mayor Bhyrappa, MCC Corporators M V Ramprasad and Sunil, Clean Mysuru Foundation Convener S Madhukeshwar, Ramakrishna Mutt Trustee Swamy Mukthidanandaji Maharaj and others were present.
