Mysuru, July 23:- Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda inaugurated the 40th year celebrations of Vidyavardhaka First Grade College (FGC) here on Saturday
“I am confident of looking after the higher education ministry well. I wanted to have revenue, rural development or cooperation ministry. That’s why I hadn’t taken up the ministry for 20 days. Later, I accepted the ministry. Many education experts have asked me to look after the ministry. They asked me to remain as the higher education minister. Around 102 degree colleges in the state don’t have own building. Remaining colleges are short of classrooms. Around 395 principal posts are vacant in the state. If the previous government had taken care, the problem would have been solved. We will appoint 10,500 guest lecturers,” the minister informed.
Deputy Speaker of Legislative Council Marithibbegowda, president of Vidyavardhaka Education Society Gundappa Gowda, secretary P Vishwanath, Srishaila Ramannanavar, principal Marigowda and others were present. (MR/KS).
