City Police Commissioner B Dayananda has stated that there are 115 police housing complexes in the city and in 2015-2016, 174 new ones were distributed to police personnel.
Reacting to ‘City Today’ report “Hear our voice, policemen plead government” published on May 30, he said that the new houses have two bedrooms each.
The report highlighted the pathetic condition of the houses where the police constables live.
The commissioner has further stated that from R2013, 204 old and dilapidated houses had been repaired and a proposal has been sent to the state police headquarters to demolish 69 houses that are in worst condition. Grievances of police constables have been heard and frequent meetings are being held to address their problems, he stated.
