As many as 118 students received their degree certificates at the Graduation Day of Mysore Vivekananda Yoga Education and Research Institute on Sunday.
Yoga Guru Visharada BNS Iyengar conferred the degrees on students at a function held to mark the Silver jubilee celebrations of Mysore Vivekananda Yoga Education and Research Institute at Jaganmohan Palace.
Out of 118 students 48 students were conferred with PG Diploma in Yoga education while 42 students received Diploma certificates, 25 students received certificates in Ashtanga Yoga, and 3 students received in certificates in Yoga therapy.
Speaking at the occasion, BNS Iyengar said that every human is born to attain realisation and the very purpose of this humanity is to attain realisation-highest knowledge. “So the purpose of the yogi should be for the development of society and humanity with sacrifice and dedication. In the path of this realisation we must know all the gods, merits, prestige, and the powers of gods,” he said.
“For the material world, we go to the demigods but for realisation you go to Narayana,” he added.
Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Krishnamacharya were prominently in popularising Yoga in Mysuru state he added.
Former MLC Siddaraju, VYAS Joint Director Dr Sudeep Deshpande, Mysore Vivekananda Yoga Education and Research Institute Honorary Vice President Dr A H Shashirekha and Principal Shri Rekha were present.
