Prime News, International and National Sport, Volleyball, Kathmandu (Nepal), November 29:- Indian women’s volleyball team has entered the semi-finals of 13th South Asian Games.
In the last group A match today, India defeated Bangladesh in straight sets, 25-8, 25-11 and 25-9 in Kathmandu. Indian girls dominated the opponents throughout the game. India will now take on runners up of Group B in the first semi-final tomorrow.
Indian men’s team will clash with hosts Nepal later today to secure top position in Group A. India had defeated Bangladesh in straight sets in its opening encounter on Thursday, while, Nepal lost to Bangladesh in its first match on Wednesday.
Though formal opening ceremony of Games will take place on Sunday volleyball matches have already started. Over 2700 athletes will compete for 1119 medals including 319 gold in 26 game categories.
As many as 499 athletes from India are participating in the biggest sporting event of South Asia. The closing ceremony will be held on December 10. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
