Prime News, International, National, Karnataka, Festival, Mysuru, August 24:- Amid the threat of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, preparations have begun for the world-famous Mysuru Dasara or ‘Nada Habba.’ Unlike the previous years, there will be 14 Dasara elephants, according to sources.
Before the Dasara high power committee meeting, under the guidance of Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Karikalan, the jumbos were chosen. The list has been sent to the Chief Conservator of Forest in Bengaluru for approval. In the event of a simple Dasara, seven elephants will be brought during Dasara.
Elephants from Ane Kaadu, Mathigodu, Bandipur camps have been selected. Vikram, Vijaya, Abhimanyu, Gopalaswamy, Bhima, Mahendra, Dhananjaya, Prashanth, Gopi, Harsha, Kaveri, Lakshmana, Chaitra, and Maharashtra Bhima have been shortlisted. The number of elephants is subject to changes.
Last year, due to the pandemic situation, five elephants were brought. In view of the elephants’ health and prevailing conditions, two extra elephants might be summoned. (MR/KS)
