16th KSOU Convocation held; 17,512 students receive degree certificates

NAAC director Prof SC Sharma calls upon youth to develop the spirit of nationalism

Mysuru, March 5:- “Thinking ability, working and pro social mindset can develop a person’s character,” said the director of NAAC Bengaluru, Prof S C Sharma.

He was speaking while delivering the 16th Convocation address of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) held at the Convocation Bhavan of KSOU in the city on Tuesday.

“Doing any work is like doing a yajna. Nothing in the world actually belongs to human beings. The money he or she earns for his/herself and the tapasya one does for liberation are all a part of this yajna. Kuvempu has beautifully narrated this in his play “Beral Ge Koral.” Youths should develop the spirit of nationalism as an Indian. Youths are the makers of both today and tomorrow. You can be the reason for the development of the nation,” he added.

10 research students were awarded PhD on the occasion. Seven students were awarded gold medals and eight with cash awards. 17,512 students received their degree certificates at the KSOU Convocation.

Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda, MLC Sandesh Nagaraj, KSOU Vice Chancellor Prof D Shivalingaiah, KSOU Registrar of Evaluation Dr M S Ramananda, KSOU Registrar Prof Ramesh T, academic dean Prof Jagadish and others were present. (GK, NGB)
