17 bikes seized from six vehicle lifters, accused remanded to JC

The cops attached to Mysore district have arrested six vehicle lifters and recovered 17 two wheelers worth Rs 8,80,000 from them on Saturday.
Addressing media persons on Saturday in the city, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare said that the accused were apprehended during a vehicle check on the highway in the late hours of Monday.
When questioned by the police on suspicion, the accused gave contradictory answers. Then they were taken to the police station for interrogation. Police found out that Chandan, 21; Abhishak, 19; Ranjeth, 22; Shashikumar,19 and Kiran, 21; all natives of Mandya district were involved in several bike theft cases.

The gang operated from K R Pet town and in surrounding areas for few months. The accused had stolen 17 bikes from Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan districts. SP Khare said that the accused had hidden the stolen bikes at the basement in accused Kiran’s house which was seized by the police.
All the accused were produced before a magistrate court in K R Nagar and were remanded to judicial custody.
