Mysuru, July 6:- A two-year-old child died after falling into an open water sump at the house allegedly due to the negligence of family members at Koppalu village in Periyapattana taluk.
Yashas (2), son of Jagadish and Lakshmi, was playing with the parents who were working at the farm behind the house. When Lakshmi went inside the house to prepare coffee, the child followed her. However, the child which had observed a toy floating in the open sump, attempted to pick up the toy and eventually drowned. When the parents franctically searched for the child, they found him floating in the water sump. By the time they could lift the child out of the sump, he had breathed his last.
Leaders of the village Prabhu Gowda, Chikkegowda, Jayanti Ramesh, Angadi Ramu who visited the house have requested the people to ensure safety measures while constructing sumps and to be careful to avoid such incidents. (KS, NGB)
