Mysuru, August 16:- The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at Little Infant School run by Vibha Charitable Trust at Rajivnagar 1st Stage here on Thursday.
The programme began with flag hoisting by the chief guest A M Emily, former head mistress of the same school. Alvin Nazareth, Basavaraj, Biddappa, Anitha Pereira and Ashika Nazareth of the school management were present.
Emily briefed about the struggle of Mahatma Gandhi which paved the way for India’s freedom from colonial rule and what ‘freedom’ meant for the people of our country. She said students are the future of India. They need to take up the responsiblity of making India a better place by their hard work, dedication and determination.
The students who spoke about India’s unity in diversity, said people irrespective of what religion they belong to, should join hands as “one and unitedly live in peace and harmony.”
Students also presented a dance programme based on a patriotic song. (NGB)
