230 children to get free hearing aids

Two-hundred-and-thirty hearing impaired children from Mysuru went to Bengalu­ru on Thursday to participate in a mega camp to be held later in the day where­in they will get free hearing aids pro­vided by ‘Turn Key Foundation USA.

Rajashekar Koti, editor, Andolane Di­napatrike, flagged off five by buses that carried the children from the Scouts and Guides Grounds, near DC office. He com­mended the yeomen services rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), My­suru branch, in organising the trip.

M S Jayanth, secretary, IRCS, Mysuru branch, explained that ‘Turn Key Foun­dation USA’ had provided 1000 Siemens hearing aids each costing Rs 35,000 to 40,000 free of cost and they will be distrib­uted to the children from different parts of Karnataka including city’s 230 children.

Apart from Mysuru’s Rotary East, Rota­ry Midtown, Rotary Central, Rotary North, Rotary Ivory City persons like Ram Aradya, Yashaswini Somashekar have contributed to arrange the trip expenses, he added.

Dr Gurumurthy, chairman, Mysuru IRCS, Prof Mahadevappa, vice chairman, Vana­jakshi, joint secretary, Dr Lakshmi Subba Rao, prominent member of IRCS, Indi­ra Ballal, president, Rotary East, Swamy, president, Rotary Central, Harish, pres­ident, Rotary Mid town and others were present.
