Two-hundred-and-thirty hearing impaired children from Mysuru went to Bengaluru on Thursday to participate in a mega camp to be held later in the day wherein they will get free hearing aids provided by ‘Turn Key Foundation USA.
Rajashekar Koti, editor, Andolane Dinapatrike, flagged off five by buses that carried the children from the Scouts and Guides Grounds, near DC office. He commended the yeomen services rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Mysuru branch, in organising the trip.
M S Jayanth, secretary, IRCS, Mysuru branch, explained that ‘Turn Key Foundation USA’ had provided 1000 Siemens hearing aids each costing Rs 35,000 to 40,000 free of cost and they will be distributed to the children from different parts of Karnataka including city’s 230 children.
Apart from Mysuru’s Rotary East, Rotary Midtown, Rotary Central, Rotary North, Rotary Ivory City persons like Ram Aradya, Yashaswini Somashekar have contributed to arrange the trip expenses, he added.
Dr Gurumurthy, chairman, Mysuru IRCS, Prof Mahadevappa, vice chairman, Vanajakshi, joint secretary, Dr Lakshmi Subba Rao, prominent member of IRCS, Indira Ballal, president, Rotary East, Swamy, president, Rotary Central, Harish, president, Rotary Mid town and others were present.
