Carmel Catholic Association’s 27th Carol Singing Competition; prize distribution held

Mysuru, December 9:- Carmel Catholic Association of the city organised 27th Carol Singing Competition and prize distribution at Teresian College Auditorium at Siddarthanagar here on Sunday.

Carol singing spreads the message of peace and harmony of Jesus Christ. The event was held not only as a competition, but as an event to spread the message of Jesus. The event aims at uniting all the religions and beliefs.

The singers sang Carols in Kannada, English, Konkani, Malayalam, Tamil and other Indian languages. The competition was held in 12 sections including little kids, primary, higher primary, high school, college and religious institutions’ level.

Singers sang the carols in 95 groups. Each group had 30 – 50 singers. About 4,000 singers participated in the competition held from 9 am to 6:30 pm.

Thomas Thannattil Augusty inaugurated the programme. Renic Verghese Putusheri, CCA president Sonef Chako, Bishop of Mysuru Diocese Dr KA William, Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hanagal University of Music and Performing Arts Prof Nagesh Bettakote and others were present.
