With an aim to increase tourist inflow to the city during the Mysuru Dasara, Hotel Owners Association has come forward by offering 30% discount to the tourists who stay at various hotels and lodges in the city.
With a drastic decline in tourists visiting the city since 15 days after a violence broke out over the Cauvery water issue in the region, Hotel Owners Association has come out with a new plan to tackle the issue.
Addressing the media persons at a press meet held on Tuesday, President of Mysore Hotel Owners Association Narayanagowda said, “There has been a serious decline in the tourists’ inflow in the city after the violence broke out in the city over Cauvery issue. Mysuru being a tourist hub will face serious problems. During the Dasara festivities, thousands of tourists from neighbouring states would come to city. In order to woo the tourists and increase the tourist inflow we are offering 30% discounts on lodging at all lodges across Mysuru city.”
“There are a total of 278 lodges in the city which has over 6,200 rooms, all the owners of these lodging services have accepted to reduce the cost and offer discounts in the recent meeting,” he added.
“We also received a request from the district administration asking us to offer 50% discount to the artiste, elected representatives who stay in city during Dasara festivities. We have accepted their request,” Naraynagowda added. Assistant Commissioner C L Anand and others were present.
