Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) organised an awareness programme on waste segregation to hundreds of school children in the city on Friday.
With intent to create awareness about types of waste and importance of segregating them at source, MCC in association with Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) organised an awareness programme at Hoysala Karnataka Sangha.
The programme was inaugurated by Mayor M J Ravi Kumar. CMCA gave a demonstration on types of waste – dry, wet, sanitary and other waste and also the ways of disposing them off scientifically.
CMCA programme head C Savitha explained the students on the waste management and awareness on proper segregation. She said “Programmes of this kind is organised to sensitise students on the benefits of proper waste management and to create awareness on the danger caused to the environment.”
MCC health officer Dr Nagaraj said “Cleanliness is important to protect health of individual and society, such programmes will help the students to learn the waste segregating process and educate them to create awareness among different individuals in the society.”
