35 children were lured by lower rate take a goods auto which turns turtle.
35 students of Kasubabahalli Government School in Nanjangud taluk were injured as the goods autorickshaw in which they were travelling turned turtle on Saturday.
After Saturday’s class the students were waiting to board a bus to return to their village. A goods autorickshaw driver lured them with a reduced fare than the bus for a drop at their village. He then bundled 35 of them in his vehicle. A kilometer away from the school the driver lost control of the vehicle at a curve near Tethegowdanahalli cross.
Students including girls suffered bruises and even fractures in the mishap. Following the incident all student were shifted to the K R Hospital and a case has been registered in Nanjangud Rural police station. The police have arrested the auto driver.
Chandhu a class 8 student who escaped with minor injuries said 35 of them were packed like sardines in the auto. In less than a kilometer the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend and I saw within a few seconds my school mates writhing in pain he said. He escaped with a minor injury on his leg. The boy admitted that the 4km to his school was an arduous journey everyday owing to lack of bus frequency.
Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare and DDPI Basappa visited KR Hospital and spoke to students.
