“The most ambitious project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Pradhana Mantri Bharatiya Jana Aushadhi’ scheme will begin in the city from May 6,” said former minister S A Ramdas.
He was addressing a press meet at the Mysuru Press Club on Thursday.
“The centres will be opened at Kyatamaranahalli and Udayagiri of the city. Central Minister Ananth Kumar will inaugurate the centres at 5 pm. MP Pratap Simha, minister Tanveer Sait, MLC Tara Anuradha and others will be present,” he added.
“Pharmaceutical mafia is active all over the world. The scheme started in 2008 didn’t see much of success and only 90 jana aushadha centres are there in the country. It is the dream of PM to have 300 centres this year. Rs 35 crore have been allotted for the project. With this scheme, medicines will be provided to the doorsteps of the poor. Already 25 centres are given permission in Mysuru,” he added.
“To simplify the health service, a request has been made to the PM to allow online services and he has positively responded to it. In the coming days, the medicines will be provided to the old age homes and physically challenged persons at their doorsteps. A one day workshop will be held in the 3rd week of May,” he said.
“Narendra Modi makes projects to look after the health of the nation, and Amit Shah looks after the health of the party. I am a normal volunteer and I don’t want to comment on the internal happenings of the party and will perform the duty assigned to me,” he added.
M Lokesh, Revanna and Suresh were present in the press meet.
