Prime News, International and National Sport, Cricket, Mumbai, December 10:- The third T20I of the ongoing West Indies’ tour of India will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in the city tomorrow (December 11) at 7 pm.
With West Indies levelling the series 1-1, sports lovers expect the next match to overdo the entertainment provided in the first two matches.
After getting whitewashed 3-0 by India twice in a row in T20Is, West Indies defeating them by 8 wickets convincingly last night has given a new dimension to the third match. While India would have thought of experimenting in the third T20I, they are unlikely to do the same with the series on the line now.
Meanwhile, after missing the T20I series due to injury, opener Shikhar Dhawan is reportedly set to miss the ODI series against West Indies as well. Dhawan was initially picked up for both T20Is and ODIs against West Indies; however, the southpaw was ruled out of the three-match T20I series due to a knee injury which he sustained during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Maharashtra.
Dhawan needs more time to recover from the injury and the selection committee is likely to name a replacement before the first ODI on December 15, reports said.
Earlier, Sanju Samson was called in as replacement for injured Dhawan in the T20I squad. However, the young wicket-keeper-batsman hasn’t played in the first two T20Is against Windies as Rishabh Pant continues to keep wickets for the team.
India may bring in Samson as replacement for Dhawan in ODIs as well. The other players who are in contention to replace Dhawan are Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
