Mysuru district court in its verdict sentenced four years of jail for a tahsildar who had demanded for bribe.
Tahsildar Raghumurthy was caught by the Lokayuktha police while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 by Muniraju, a resident of Kengeri, while buying a land in Madhahalli village of Mysuru taluk.
Muniraju had bought 3 acres of land by Ramesh of Madahalli village. As Ramesh’s father Guruvaiah died, the land had to be transferred to Ramesh’s name before selling it. For that purpose, Raghumurthy had asked for a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. While receiving Rs 50,000 as advance, he was caught by the police at Andolana circle. As the allegations against him were proven in the court, the court ordered for him to be jailed for 4 years and a fine of Rs 25,000 to be paid. Justice Surendranath has given a judgement that might strike fear among the corrupt officials.
