Mysuru, July 7:- Coronavirus pandemic is far more severe than one thought. With three more deaths on Monday, apparently due to COVID-19, the death toll has reached eight in Mysuru district.
Forty-five people tested positive for coronavirus in the district on Monday. The number of coronavirus cases has reached 481 in the district. Sixteen people have recovered and discharged while seven patients are being treated in ICU. The district now has 205 active cases.
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar said that 3 patients having severe breathing problems died on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as a male from Chamarajanagar aged 50 years, 46 years male from Agrahara, 75 years male from Kalyanagiri.
The newly infected cases are due to primary contacts, 3 having ILI, one interstate traveller, 2 from other districts and 19 asymptomatic cases. A doctor at KR Hospital has tested positive for coronavirus.
The number of containment zones is also increasing in the district. Twenty-five areas have been sealed down. The Deputy Commissioner said that action will be taken to treat asymptomatic patients at home. (MR/KS)
