Minister for Higher Education T B Jayachandra on Saturday announced the results of the CET.
He said that Milind Kumar Vaddiraju of WS Sardar Patel PU College, Bengaluru; Niranjan Ka-mat of Expert PU College, Mangaluru and Divya A Jamakhandi of KLE Society’s Independent PU College, Bengaluru, secured the top three places in engineering stream while Ananth G of Alva PU College, Mangaluru; Sanjay M Goudar of Sheshadripuram PU College, Bengaluru and Vachana Shree Patil, Shaheen PU College, Bengaluru, topped the list in the medical stream.
According to the merit list, 41,530 candidates are eligible for admission to medical and dental courses; 99,791 for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM) and Homoeopathy courses; 27 lakh for engineering and technology courses and 1,395 for architecture course. That apart, 96,341 are eligible for agriculture, 99,788 for veterinary, 1.31 lakh for B.Pharma and Pharma-D courses.
Mysuru has not emerged in the top ten lists. However, Niharika M of Marimallappa PU College and a resident of Saraswathipuram, has secured 45th rank by scoring 583 marks in the second PU examination, bringing laurels to Mysuru.
She scored 53 marks in physics, 57 in chemistry and 56 in biology. She is the daughter of Dr Manjunath and Dr Puttathayamma, both employed as doctors in Gundlupet and Nanjangud, respectively.
Having born into a family of medical professionals, Niharika aspires to be a Cardiologist. Speaking to ‘City Today,’ she said that “I had made up my mind to be a doctor and used to study for 12-14 hours during holidays. I never studied for board examinations, but started preparing for CET from the start of the academic year itself and I am happy with the results.” Another Mysuru student, Raveesh S B of Ramakrishna Vidya Shala has secured 56th rank in CET-medical. He is the son of Suresh B 9 joint director at KMF and Dr Nalina H R. He has scored a total of 165 marks in PCB and 589 in II PU examinations. Raveesh said that he had planned his studies from day one for CET and it clicked well for him to score good marks in both, board and CET.
