Govt grants 5 guntas of land to 98 landless farmers: Minister Dr HC Mahadevappa

Mysuru, March 7:- District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa held a press meet at Aranya Bhavan on government’s decision to distribute five guntas of land each to 98 farmers.

“Around 245 families are growing betel leaves in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts. The town council has used 98 blocks for various purposes, leaving 98 families landless. The government has now granted 5 guntas of land to all the 98 families,” he said.

A food court has been sanctioned in the budget and land will be provided for it near Dasara Exhibition Grounds, the minister added.

Responding to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) criticism for admitting MLA Ashok Kheny into Congress fold, Dr Mahadevappa said there is a court to look into corruption charges. The minister promised that Ashokapuram Road will be readied at a cost of Rs 22 crore. Rs 5 crore will be dedicated to Siddhartha Ground. He paid tributes to Conservator of Forests Manikandan who died in elephant attack.
