Mysuru, May 23:- “Any country which is not self-reliant for food will not be able to live with self-esteem,” opined Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking after inaugurating the distribution of AYUSH kits to households at Samrat Convention Centre at Kuvempunagar here on Friday. He inaugurated the event by offering prayers to a cow and feeding chyavanprash to a child.
“Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India’s war against coronavirus, Karnataka government led by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has been functioning tirelessly. Compared to other countries, the coronavirus death rate is relatively low in India. It is because of the farsightedness of the Prime Minister. Today, the entire world is looking up to India. If coronavirus is controlled in India, it is because of our lifestyle, food habits and Ayurveda which has increased our immunity. MLA S A Ramadass is implementing what the Prime Minister has told. He is providing AYUSH kits to 80,000 families,” he said.
“Ramadass has worked to provide the health ideas of the Prime Minister to the people of Mysuru. District administration, people of Mysuru and officials have succeeded in controlling the coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus control is in our hands. It has already affected the global economy,” he added.
“India has the ability to recover financially. We are known for converting the problem into an opportunity. We are already providing all the support to the working class. Our economy depends on the working people. The government has introduced various programmes for farmers. The police department, revenue department and health department have worked in tandem,” he said.
“The home ministry has worked effectively and efficiently since the beginning of the lockdown. The department has guided us in the right path. Mysuru district administration and police department have worked really well. Ramadass is a man of commitment. Even neighbouring people do not speak to quarantined families. But Ramadass ensured that they get ration and other essentials in time,” said District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar.
Ramadass, Mayor Tasneem Bano, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Commissioner of MCC Gurudutta Hegde, BJP city president TS Srivatsa, DCP Dr AN Prakash Gowda, AYUSH officer Dr Seethalakshmi and others were present. (MR/KS)
