A day care centre for the elderly inaugurates

A day care centre for the elderly was jointly opened by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Women and Child Welfare and the Department of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens in association with Green Rural Development and Training Institute.It was inaugurated by Purushotham, a retired Home Guard Commandant, at Kuvempunagar on Friday. Citizens, who have attained 60 years of age mayen-roll themselves as members by producing age certificate along with their application which is available at the centre.

The centre will function from 10 am to 5 pm every day. The facilities for the inmates include yoga and meditation, health check-up camps, indoor games and periodic picnics. Besides, lunch will also be provided. All the services will be provided free of cost. Gopalakrishna, Deputy Director (retired), Department of Women and Child Welfare, Yoga Guru Shantharam, Green Rural Development and Training Institute President Prabhu, Secretary Mahadevaswamy and others were present on the occasion.
