A special programme for specially-abled

Hundreds of special children and disables took part in various sports and entertainment games organised at the J K Grounds on Thursday.

Women and Children Dasara Sub-committee, as part of the Mysuru Dasara,  organised a special sports competitions for the specially-abled and disables. Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department K Radha inaugurated the sports meet.

Addressing the gathering, Radha said: “The sports meet organised as part of the historical Mysuru Dasara will provide a platform for disables and specially-abled. It will strengthen and build sportsmanship among the participants. We have specially designed various entertaining sports programmes this year and we will be providing participation certificates to all.”

Over 650 children from government and private schools including Nireekshe Special School, Rangarao Memorial School for Disabled, Aashiana, Mythri, Arunodaya, Sneha Kiran and other institutions run by the non-government organisations participated in the competitions. Children with disabilities like of cerebral palsy,  mentally retarded (MR), autism, hearing, visual and speech impairments and others participated in the event.

Events including lemon and spoon race, musical chair, bucket in the ball, matching pictures, touch and feel, Pallavi and Charana and various other programmes were organised.
