Both Devaraja Market and Lansdowne Building are great heritage structures in the centre of the city. With their unique architecture and history are a great tourist attraction. It is a welcome news that both are in for a facelift for restoration to their pristine grandeur. Since two decades I have nursed a dream that the stretch between the KR Circle and Bata Shop on Sayyaji Rao road encompassing Devaraja Market should be made into a covered area, purely restricted to pedestrians. It would be a magnificent addition to our heritage city. I have written about it several times during past two decades and there is no response till now. I venture to make this suggestion again and suggest that Mysore City Corporation may put it in their agenda to discuss this idea with all the corporators to elicit their opinion. Before that meeting it is suggested an architect may be entrusted to come out with a concept plan including the alternatives to divert the road traffic. There are endless possibilities to use the space.
