With the introduction of GST, there will be a uniform taxation throughout the country.Long back, BSNL had introduced ‘One nation one rupee per call’ scheme, irrespective of states to which state the call is made. However, entry tax is not uniform in the country and it depends on the whims and fancies of the states. When the country is united for GST, why the boundaries for entry tax with the country? Centre should abolish this entry tax. Instead it may collect one-time tax and some share may be provided to the states. This step will save a lot of time and manpower at states, and reduces bribery too. It also encourages tourism sector, which is currently affected by unrealistic and uneven entry tax by different states. If required, monitoring through CCTVs can be done at state boarders to know the movements of the vehicles. Reform should be taken up in the entry tax too!
