Mysuru, November 6:- Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest on Friday (November 6), condemning the arrest of television journalist Arnab Goswami.
The ABVP volunteers were protesting near the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here. They said, “The arrest reminds us of the ‘Emergency’ days. Taking Goswami into police custody without any summons is condemnable. It is an attack of freedom of speech and press.”
They said, “Maharashtra government with its vindictive policies wants to target Goswami who has been highlighting its failures. A case that was closed in 2018 has been reopened only to cover up its failures. This is not acceptable in a democratic country. The way cops behaved with Goswami and his family is unpardonable. The senior journalist should be released unconditionally.”
ABVP additional secretary Sriram, working member Chiranth, city additional secretary Pragna, Rachana, Nagashree, Suhas Nandisi, Nagakiran, Kiran, Chandru and Mallappa were present. (MR/GK)
