Mysuru, September 26:- Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat staged a protest on Saturday (September 26), urging the state government to treat drug peddlers as traitors and put them behind bars. The postal protest that is being held throughout the country got due support in Mysuru as well. They wanted the government to pass stringent laws that act as a deterrent in future.
The protesters, who had gathered in large numbers near Nehru Circle on Henry Irwin Road in the city, said, “Drug menace is rampant in the country. Innocent college students are falling prey to drugs. It is spoiling their career. We welcome the state government move to put an end to drug menace in the state. But we need a powerful law to handle this. The state government should stage a war against drug menace on war-footing.
ABVP’s state secretary, Sriram, city’s organising secretary Sharath, additional secretaries Pragna, Chiranth and Mallappa S P, volunteers Nagashree, Rachana, Suhas, Adarsh and others were present.
ABVP members staged a symbolic protest in T Narasipura and urged the government to be stern with drug peddlers. (MR/KS)
