‘Academics and extracurricular activities go hand in hand’

“It is important to be involved in extracurricular activities along with academics to shape our lives,” said Registrar (Evaluation) Dr R Rajanna.

Speaking at the valedictory of the cultural forum of Maharaja’s College on Friday Dr R Rajanna said, “I am a proud alumnus of the Maharaja’s College. I am a student of 1982-85 batch. The college provides a great opportunity for students to exhibit their talent and students should focus on extracurricular activities with academics. It helps shape our personality. The college has produced eminent scholars, litterateurs, politicians, actors and great humanitarians, which is a matter of pride,” he said.

National awardee and film actor Sanchari Vijay said, “It is the hardship that pays off in the end. It is the hurdles once surmounted that propels us to scale greater heights.

I have struggled a lot to be an actor and had always tried my best to get a good opportunity, it’s this struggle in my life that inspires me to do better. Today if I am standing here as a national awardee, it is because of the struggle I went through. If we want to achieve something in a particular field we need to concentrate and work more in that particular field,” he added.

Principal of Maharaja’s College Dr B Nagarajamurthy, Administrative officer Dr Vasantha, Convener of the extra-curricular activities Dr B P Ashakumari and others were present.
