The Mysuru centre of the association of consulting civil engineers (India) is organising an international seminar ‘RACE 17’ on ‘trendsetting structures’ at Nityotsava Convention Centre, Ballal circle on January 20 and 21. RACE is an acronym for ‘recent advances in civil engineering’. Eminent speakers are addressing the seminar. The seminar will have multiple segments – on concrete structures, steel structures, sustainable structures, responsible engineering and rehabilitation engineering.
Dr V Seshadri, former deputy director of IIT, New Delhi has kindly consented to be the chief guest. Dr Seshadri was earlier the director of Indian Institute of Information technology and Management, Gwalior. He has received several awards including ‘medal of distinction’ from the royal institution of naval architects, UK.
Dr Aravind Bhasyam, professor, dept of civil engineering, BMS institute of technology and management, Bengaluru will deliver the keynote address on ‘some interesting design and construction challenges of Petronas towers’.
